      Velvet is the one we are asked about most. It has a depth of colour no other fabric manages — hold a crimson velvet next to a crimson satin and the velvet looks lit from within.

      Some of these are made from a fine 70% silk velvet, which we found after perusing a great many velvet shops and which we are quietly proud of. Others are cotton and viscose velvets, chosen for their weight and the way they gather. All of them are soft on the hair and hold beautifully.

      Velvet is at its best in autumn and winter, and makes a particularly good present. Regular and XL, both with our wide elastic.
